THE SOUL TRAIN IMPACT… Event is a model from the mission and principals of the original Soul Train ideas of Don Cornelius.

Soul Train has singlehandedly changed and has left an impact on the image of black America. Soul Train has left an impact and made black enterprise a viable competitive force. Moreover, Soul Train has primarily opened doors and has left an impact on black people in; music, media, television, and image.

THE SOUL TRAIN IMPACT is a safe haven for young people to express themselves, for them and adults learn to excel. THE SOUL TRAIN IMPACT empowers, uplifts, excites people, while sharing ideas and tools for life, education, and career. Our model comes from the original idea of Don Cornelius.

Soul Train was an outlet for young people to express themselves with dance, music, and fashion. It was a safe heaven. In the beginning, Soul Train was like an afterschool program. Don Cornelius took young people off the streets of Chicago and put them on the dance floor and in front of the camera. This was something no one had done before him. His pioneering idea of the Soul Train show had given young people a purpose and a mission. This is what is missing in many urban neighborhoods in our country. Young people in Chicago, New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles etc. could benefit from this same type of formula today.

Soul Train has been an opportunity for artist, business, marketing professionals, and TV industry professionals to succeed and leave an impact on the community and the industry.

The legacy and mission of Soul Train includes aspects of social responsibility, empowerment, and change. We know for 40 plus years, we have adored, protected, have take ownership, and respect the legacy of this cherished brand.

As a fashion statement, the red carpet at the Costume Institute at theMetropolitan Museum of Art gala — that seemingly endless stretch of crimson that leads from Fifth Avenue, up the dozens of steps of the museum’s great staircase and into the Great Hall — occupies an odd netherland between runway and reality.

It is the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit, known as the Met Gala. In addition to kicking off the museum’s annual blockbuster fashion show, devoted this year to Chinese aesthetics’ influence on Western fashion, the event has become a testament to the unmistakable power of its co-host, the 65-year-old editor of Vogue and artistic director of Condé Nast, Anna Wintour, continuing the mythmaking of films such as “The Devil Wears Prada” and — in a retort of sorts to that thinly disguised portrayal — the 2009 documentary “The September Issue.”

Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue and artistic director of Condé Nast, on the red carpet before the Met Ball

Since 1999, Ms. Wintour, an iron fist in an Oscar de la Renta (or Prada or Chanel) dress, has been the driving force behind the gala’s transformation from a well-attended dinner for museum donors and patrons into one of the biggest fund-raising events staged by any of the city’s cultural institutions, as well as an unprecedented global advertisement for her vision of the fashion industry.

HAIR WARS

Chicago

Located at the Concord Music Hall 2047 N Milwaukee Ave

"Hair Wars" The Supreme Salon Tour competition was held  on Sunday April 26, 2015, sponsored by Wella, Airbrush Academy, Glam Live, Mario Ink, GoykPhoto, and Lock&Loaded.

Top-notch Chicago salons will take it to the catwalk to showcase their creative talent in the ultimate hair competition. Salons will be competing for the coveted regional title of "Supreme Salon". Top 3 salons are invited to compete in the World Finals.

Hair Wars is the ultimate salon competition where local salons have the opportunity to showcase their artistic side by featuring one-of-a-kind hair creations down the runway. The Supreme Salon tour travels through Chicago, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, El Paso, Calgary Canada, searching for top salons that display superb creativity and style within their region. Competing against one another, the top three salons from each region are invited to battle for the title of “Supreme Salon” in a national competition. For more information, visit www.supremesalon.com.

This creative and adrenaline pumped showcase was mesmerizing as local talent from Chicago took the city by storm in competition form. 10 competing salons with skill and artistic ability put on a dynamic display for artists, friends and lovers of the craft. Many traveled near and far to witness this event. Although a little on the pricey side. This production appeared very organized and well put together. Although lighting was a factor for most photographers, images would not be able to display the amount of passion that went into this night.  A night well spent. I look forward to the next competition...stay tuned for the next Hair Wars coming to a city near you.

Chicago Cultural Center

I was taken back by the ambiance of this well structured location. Giving a vision of antique artifacts  with  an ancient egypt feel when you walk in the door.  I embraced the art located throughout the building taking a special appreciation to 1920's era of renaissance paintings from AV Motely Jr's.  The staff was very friendly and accomadating. A place I would highly recommend taking you r family and friends.

The Chicago Cultural Center is the nation’s first free municipal cultural center and one of the most visited attractions in Chicago.
